There’s an interesting hypothesis which suggests that the type of aliens we know as the Greys were on Earth before we were. The really ancient civilizations that we can find remains of all over the planet might actually have been built by them rather than by us. Some researchers have attributed them to humans, but as the artifacts are millions of years old, or even hundreds of millions of years old, they seem astonishingly early. This could be a reasonable explanation.
